Buyer FAQ
Carbon fiber sheet and plate questions
Can you supply a custom sheet size?
Custom dimensions can be reviewed with thickness, weave, surface and quantity.
Can sheets be CNC cut to my drawing?
Profiles, holes and geometry can be reviewed for an assembly-ready part. Review fatigue considerations for holes and edges if the part will experience repeated loads.
Does visible weave define structural performance?
No. Surface appearance and internal construction are separate decisions. Our carbon fiber strength guide explains how laminate direction, thickness and geometry affect performance.
Specification decisions
Keep panel appearance and laminate requirements separate
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Size and thickness | State the finished panel or cut-part size; distinguish nominal thickness from an agreed allowable variation. |
| Construction | Specify the required reinforcement and laminate direction rather than relying on the visible weave. |
| Visible faces and edges | Identify one- or two-sided cosmetic requirements, decorative layers and exposed machined edges. |
| Downstream operations | Provide profiles, holes and bonding zones; agree the inspection condition for thickness and flatness. |
Worked specification example
A 400 × 500 × 5.0 mm panel can be a full sheet or the starting stock for smaller parts. If the finished part is CNC-cut, supply its drawing as well as the panel reference. The panel size does not establish the finished part’s load capacity.
